Entering the Thinking Realm of the Next Level

Yesterday’s mind qualified you for the past; today’s mind qualifies you for the present; but you’re going to need a new mind to qualify you for your future. Your future always requires something of you that your present doesn’t. In other words, you’ll stay at today if you continue to think the way you think today. In order to navigate a successful future you need to cultivate a successful mind (if you will).

The thinking on this level doesn’t not qualify you to go to the next level. You must step into the thinking realm of the next level in order to enter it. You need a new “mind” in order to have a new “life.”

If you want to improve your “actions” you must improve your “thoughts.” You have to think better; think higher, and with more quality. Your thoughts are your actions’ parent. Your actions are not automatic. Your actions are under the influence of your mind. Instead of trying to change your actions, focus on changing how you think and your mind will change your life. Your lifestyle looks like your mind style.

1. In order to get a new mind you have to put new thoughts in it.
• In order to get a new mind you have to allow it to hear things from a world beyond the current world in which you operate.
2. You must constantly hear things that are beyond you.
• Find a source of revelation, inspiration, and impartation that are beyond your world of thinking.
• Who is the greatest thinker that you know? Get in their presence and hear some of their thoughts.
• Then put the message on repeat.

Your life transformation takes place in your mind before it ever appears in your world.

As You Think in Your “Heart” not Your “Head”

Last week while speaking to an audience I said, “Open your spirit to new thoughts on the matter at hand that you’ve never considered.” “Open your spirit to new thoughts” implies that you have the ability to not just think in your “head,” but to think in your “heart.”

Solomon, who was touted as the wisest man of his day (I Kings 4:30) said, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you” (Proverbs 23:7). Notice it says, “As he thinks in his “heart”—not his “head.” It’s not all the thought traffic in your head that determines who you are. It’s the thoughts that you let get past your “head” and sink into your “heart” that make you who you are.

“As you think in your HEART so are you.”  It’s not what you say to “others” about you, but what you say to “you” about you that tells who you really are. I could tell you, “I’m blessed and highly favored,” and tell myself, “You ain’t nothin’.”  The words I spoke on the inside (in my heart to myself) would be more true than the words I mouthed to you.

In Proverbs 23:7 Solomon was actually talking about a stingy man who tells his guest, “Eat all you want,” when he’s telling himself he hopes they don’t eat up his food because those groceries were expensive. What he said to his “guest” was what he wanted his guest to think he was. What he said to “himself” was who he really was.

 Thinking in Your Heart

  1. Thinking in your heart is taking the thoughts that come in your head that you believe (whether they be good or bad), capturing them, and storing them in your heart.
  2. Thinking in your heart is the conclusions you make to yourself (on the inside) about yourself.
  3. Thinking in your heart is what you think about when you aren’t thinking about anything.

So, what are you really like? To answer that you have to answer “How do you think in your “heart”?” The way you think in your “heart”—not in your “mind”…is what you’re really like…is how you really are.

Start paying more attention to the thoughts that you are letting sink down in your “heart.”

Your Mouth is the Police Department of Your Mind

A thought is one of the most powerful things in the world. If it gets planted in your head it has an opportunity to get birthed in your life.

Where do you store your problems? You store them in your mind. Now that’s not a positive thing—it’s called worry. Worry is the devils anointing. It’s his empowerment and enablement to succeed in your life.

Every thought in your mind is transmitted to the cells in your body. There are cells of your body that are assigned to act as defenders from foreign matter. If your mind is full of confusion, doubt, fear, worry, and anxiety, those thoughts confuse and weaken the cells that are assigned to protect your body against illness. That’s why you hear people saying, “All that stress and worry actually made me sick.” Their “soldier cells” became weakened by what the destructive thoughts deposited in them.

Here’s a strategy. Police every thought that comes to your mind. The apostle Paul was aware of this when he said, “…Bringing EVERY THOUGHT into captivity…” (II Corinthians 10:5b). Your mouth is the police department of your mind.

Don’t let errant, foolish, crazy thoughts roam free in your mind. Here’s what you should do with every crazy thought.

  1.  Hand Cuff It
  • Your mouth is your seat of authority over your mind.
  • Use your mouth to “hand cuff” wrong thoughts so they can’t roam free in your mind.
  • Say things like, “I denounce you—I silence you, and give you no place to operate in my life.”

  1. Arrest It
  • How does someone know they are under arrest? The one with authority says, “You’re under arrest.”
  • So, when something crazy enters your mind that you don’t want to see in your life, say, “I arrest you and give you no place to operate in my life!”
  1. Put It In Jail
  • Jesus said in Mark 11:23a—You shall SAY unto this mountain…(your mountain being the thoughts you’ve stored in your head that are plaguing you).
  • You must speak out loud to wrong thoughts.
  • You have to take your policing authority (your mouth) and speak to wrong thoughts, and tell them, “…Be thou removed and cast into the sea (i.e. cast into jail)(Mark 11:23b).

The crazy thoughts that you allow to roam free in your mind are the ones that have the greatest power to enter your life.
